Let the colorwork begin!
I just started a Dale of Norway pullover. it’s gold with lots of other colors and rocking horses on it. I’m loving this sweater so far. There’s something very satisfying about colorwork - it seems to make the project go faster (as does the fact that it is sized for a 24-month baby). I’ll get some photos up as I progress and find a good background for the photos. My carpet just won’t do because there always is a dog somewhere on the carpet.
Right now said dog is at my feet enjoying a chewy. It has been a strange day for him as I have introduced a new chair into my trailer. It is a huge chair, especially compared to the rest of the furniture, but it better supports my back and neck. It is the ideal knitting chair. It might be a recipient of my skills because I should knit an afghan for it to make sure the offwhite fabric stays as offwhite as possible. A hard trick considering ow much dirt there is in the RV park I call home.
Back to knitting. I almost have finished a pair of Norwegian-style mittens with squirrels as a motif. They are pretty nifty. I saved the thumbs for last and once I’m thinking a little more clearly (it is pretty exhausting work to lift a full-size chair into a travel trailer) I’ll pick up the stitches and finish them.
I’m on a glove and mitten kick - the next small project on my plate is a pair of Cherry Hill Tree gloves made with the company’s supersock yarn. Even though I live in the San Francisco bay area, this winter has been cold enough to make gloves a necessity. And since I tend to always lose one glove, I need as many pairs as possible.
My biggest project of all is an Aran sweater I’m knittng with gansey yarn. Hard on the hands, and the yarn picks up Duncan’s hair like crazy, but it is another satisfying knit. I’ll be finished with it come summer, when it will have to stay in the closet for a few months. Which may just give me some time to loose weight and have it fit even better. I love oversized sweaters and i need to make sure it looks oversized.
Duncan has switched from the chewy and is eating dinner now. Which is my cue to be ready to take him for his evening constitutional, after bundling up to handle the night air. I wish I had finished my gloves right about now.
